Free Honey Bee Program on 9/19!
We invite YOU (and the public) to a free educational Honey Bee Program on Saturday, September 19, 11-12p at BFS. This engaging program offers participants an opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of honey bees and the vital role they play in our environment. Attendees will discover how a honey bee colony functions, explore the remarkable social structure of the hive, and gain a better understanding of the importance of pollinators in agriculture and our everyday lives.
The presentation is designed for all ages and experience levels, whether you’re simply curious about bees, interested in starting beekeeping, or looking to support local pollinators.
The program will be presented by Dane Pursley, Master Beekeeper and BFS Board Member, who will share his knowledge and passion for honey bees through an informative and engaging discussion.
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Backyard Composting Workshop: Sunday, October 25, 11-12pm at BFS.
On Sunday, Oct. 25, 11am-12pm, join BFS and Stewart Martin (of Providence Gardenworks) at the back of Barrington Farm School to talk about Backyard Composting! It’s easier than you think: Backyard composting can be done in a small yard without a lot of space. We will cover:
- Myths of composting
- Why composting is important
- Locating your bin for success
- Right ratio of “greens” to “browns”
- Proper mixing
- Deterring Pests
